Just fine.

This body birthed bodies,

make him lay out like I done caught a body,

and still,

I say this body is

‘just fine.’

This body fed bodies,

held me up as I buried loved ones bodies,

and still,

I can’t find peace with this body.

Through countless trauma, this body proved it’s mighty,

and still,

I wish it weren’t mine.

Postpartum body, but I imagine a model body,

I think I done lost my mind–

‘cus I only think poorly of this body

when I log online and see all these sculpted bodies.

I lose myself, forgetting my only goal is to have peace of mind when I see the reflection of this body.

‘cus to be honest,

Damn, she’s just fine.

I just have to love my body—

cherish, nourish, and restore this body,

so we can stay together for a long time.
